Comments about Friday School. Thank you for having a Godly place where we can learn and enjoy learning with other homeschooled kids.

It is just right for my toddler and preschooler and I didn't realize how much I needed it for myself.

It has been fun to be around the older Kids and I have learned so much about our Lord Jesus Christ I am amazed. Being a parent it has been great for my kids and to see how much I was able to learn.

I really have enjoyed the Dads that have been involved.

It is nice to be a part of this as a single person and to see how God has allowed me to share the gift He has given me.

First Class Spokane will be meeting at Calvary Chapel of Spokane, 511 W Hastings Road

What do I need to do to become a member of the Co-op?
First get a membership application from the First Class Drop down menu and fill it out and send it in with your check to,
First Class Spokane
19821 N. Highway 395
Colbert WA, 99005

Second if you are going to have your children in the Friday School you need to infom us of the job you would be willing to do. NOTE: Our policy is at least one parent must be on campus doing a job either as a hall monitor, classroom assistant, worship team or teaching a class. Please inform us by e-mail FCHMSpokane@peoplepc.com as we will need to begin the official paper work to be on file ahead of class start up.

If you intend to teach please get a class application from the drop down menu for Friday School and if you are not sure what to teach there are ideas under that menu also. Then send in the prospective class application and the steering team will review the prospective class.

If you have any questions please e-mail us at fchmspokane@peoplepc.com or call Jeff Irish at (509) 328 - 4146

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is a "cooperative"?
A. A cooperative, or "co-op", is a collaborative organization that is jointly staffed by all of our members. we count on all of our members to contribute their time, energy and talents by helping implement our programs, events and activities. The co-op has a Board of Directors who oversee the ministry and offer help and support where needed.

Q. Does my membership cover the entire family?
Yes-the $22 - 27.00 is per family, depending on method of payment(online or mail-in) for the entire year, August to August. There is a Local Co-op Registration fee of $15 per family per year. After January 15th Local Co-op fee is prorated to $10.00 through the rest of the co-op year.

Q: Are parents required to teach at Friday School?
No, but they are required to stay on campus and will be assigned a "job" somewhere during class hours. Of course, we strongly encourage parents to teach... It's what makes Friday School able to offer so much!

Q: Does First Class have a statement of Faith?

Yes, please see the parent handbook. (You can download it from our site by clicking on the "Documets" tab under the first class drop down menu.)

Q. What are the costs involved in Friday School?
Tuition: $4.00/class, plus additional supply fee may be added. The total fee will be listed in the class catalog.

Q. When does Friday School operate?
Typically, 8-10 week sessions, October-November, and sometime between February and early May

Q. If I am a Co-op member do I have to attend Friday School? No the Co-op will be offering one time events also for members to participate in. Example would be some one enjoys fly fishing so he/she offers a Saturday class at one of the nearby lakes. We also are hoping in the future to be offering some other classes for the whole family.

Q.What should I do if I can't afford to participate?
It is the desire of First Class to have every family participate in the co-op so we have funds set aside for scholarships. Please get in touch with Jeff Irish to obtain a scholarship application.

Q. I am interested in teaching. How do I get a Teacher Application?
You can get a Class/teacher application right off our site. Please see the "Friday School" tab above, print it off and mail it in!

Q. Will my child(ren) get into the classes they signed up for?

We only guarantee that the children of teachers will get into the first class of their choice. Because class space is limited, we offer first choice to these students. Every student must list three class choices per block of class. If the child's first choice is not available, they will be assigned their second choice and so on.

Q. What types of events and activities are available through First Class Spokane?

A. Our activities and events will be varied as our members. It's all up to you! This is our first year in Spokane and in the typical First Class Friday school families have enjoyed a wide range of classes and activiities ranging from Crafts to Foreign Language classes.
