Welcome to First Class Johnson City!

There is a huge need for homeschoolers, particularly homeschooling mothers to be ministered to. Parents are hands down the most important influence in our children's lives, and a parent who homeschools has chosen to put the needs of their child above all others- often to the exclusion of our own wants and needs. We often sacrifice careers, interests, personal freedoms, and unfortunately, as road often diverge, we lose relationships. Many times, non home-educators do not understand the great sacrifices that homeschoolers make daily, and are simply blind to our unique needs. Home educators who do not have a network of support can become frustrated and lose hope. As a parent who chooses to teach my children at home, I owe it to my children and myself to find not only a Christian community [church] for ministry, but also a community of homeschoolers, who understand the unique challenges and joys that come with the lifestyle we have chosen.
At the heart of First Class Homeschool Ministries is the idea that home education is more than just books and drills. It is about nurturing the souls of the family. At First Class Johnson City, a partnership between First Class Homeschool Ministries and First Christian Church, we want to create a community of homeschoolers to share together in this walk we have individually chosen. One of the tools we use is our Fall and Spring educational co-op, but that’s just the jumping off point. We are here to support and encourage homeschoolers to seek God first. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. To change diapers or bring a meal to a new mom. To hold a hand and pray with them when they are scared. To have fun with them at the playground and encouraging them when they are ready to give up. We are called to be so much more than just a Friday morning event.
I want to invite you to minister to other homeschool families with us. We are looking for people with compassionate hearts to help us serve other homeschoolers. If you think this might be a place you’d like to serve, please send an email to Tonya Murphy today. I’d like to talk to hear your ideas.
